Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Hello, my name is Shirley. I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care across the lifespan. With specialized training in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, I integrate psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and holistic approaches to meet each patient’s unique needs.
Before becoming a PMHNP, I worked as a Registered Nurse for more than 10 years at the Pinal County Adult Detention Center (PCADC). My experience caring for individuals with substance use disorders and serious mental illness strengthened my commitment to mental health and motivated me to advance my education. In January 2024, I was honored to receive the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Life Saver Award for my service.
I am dedicated to creating a safe, collaborative environment where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their mental health journey. I believe in a whole-person approach that considers biological, psychological, and social factors. I work closely with each individual to develop personalized treatment plans that promote long-term emotional wellness. I also prioritize continuous professional development to remain aligned with current best practices in psychiatric care.
During my training, I completed part of my clinical rotation at Strategies for Success and immediately connected with its positive, supportive environment. I knew it was the right place for me and was honored to later join the team. I value working in a practice centered on compassion, respect, and collaborative care, and my goal is to help individuals build resilience, confidence, and healthier patterns that support lasting well-being.
