Strategies for Success

Laura Zsako

Outreach Coordinator

Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, I bring a diverse background in clinical mental health, sports psychology, performance, recovery, and community outreach to my work with clients. My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Positive Psychology. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey, and my goal is to walk alongside each client with compassion, encouragement, and genuine support as they navigate challenges, develop insight, and create meaningful change.

I specialize in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, social anxiety, and substance use challenges, as well as athletes navigating performance, identity, confidence, and life transitions. My professional experience spans the sports and peak-performance industry, substance use recovery across multiple levels of care, psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment, and outpatient services. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the connection between mental health, physical well-being, resilience, and sustainable recovery.I am passionate about helping clients learn to lean into discomfort in healthy and productive ways rather than avoiding the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that can get in the way of living fully.

Through a supportive and individualized therapeutic process, I help clients build coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and develop the confidence to apply what they learn in therapy to everyday life. I believe growth happens when we create space for discomfort, practice new skills, and take meaningful steps toward the life we want to live.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Family and Human Development from Arizona State University, a Master of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Sports Psychology from Capella University, and a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Walden University. I have also pursued doctoral studies in Clinical Psychology, further supporting my commitment to continued learning and professional development.

In addition to my clinical work, I bring several years of experience in marketing, relationship development, and community outreach. As a community marketing liaison, I enjoy building meaningful partnerships, connecting individuals and families with appropriate resources, and strengthening collaboration among behavioral health providers and community organizations.

At the heart of my work is a belief that people are capable of growth, change, and recovery when they feel supported, understood, and empowered. My goal is to help clients recognize their strengths, move beyond what has been holding them back, and build a life that feels more connected, authentic, and fulfilling.
